China manufactures the majority of commercial induction cooktops sold globally. The market spans everything from high-specification industrial-grade units to budget products that may not meet professional kitchen standards. Finding a reliable manufacturer requires a structured approach to sourcing and verification.
Define Requirements Before You Search
Before approaching any manufacturer, document your technical and commercial requirements: wattage and zone configuration, power supply specification (single-phase or three-phase), target certifications (CE, RoHS, UKCA, ETL), estimated annual volume, OEM or branding needs, and price range. Manufacturers respond more seriously to specific technical enquiries than to vague requests for “induction cooktops.” A detailed specification also makes it much easier to compare quotes on equal terms.
Where to Find Manufacturers
B2B platforms: Alibaba and Made-in-China list thousands of Chinese kitchen equipment suppliers. They are useful for initial discovery but require careful verification — the difference between a trading company and an actual manufacturer is not always clear on platform profiles. Look for suppliers who can provide factory photos, production videos, and third-party audit reports.
Trade exhibitions: The Canton Fair (Guangzhou), HOTELEX (Shanghai), and specialised kitchen equipment trade shows are the most reliable environments to meet manufacturers in person, evaluate product quality directly, and build relationships. Factory visits arranged through trade show contacts are one of the strongest verification methods available.
Industry referrals: Buyers who already import kitchen equipment from China can be valuable sources of manufacturer recommendations. Industry associations and trade press sometimes maintain supplier directories as well.
How to Verify a Manufacturer
Request the following from any supplier you are seriously evaluating: Chinese business licence (营业执照) showing registered business scope; ISO 9001 certificate if claimed; current CE/RoHS certificates with the issuing laboratory or notified body clearly identified; export records or references from existing customers in your target market; and ideally, a third-party factory audit report from SGS, Bureau Veritas, or a similar recognised firm.
Never accept certificate scans without independently verifying them. CE certificates should be verifiable through the issuing notified body’s public register. Accredited lab test reports should include the lab’s accreditation number, which can be cross-checked against national accreditation authority databases.
Sample Orders and Testing
Always test samples before placing a production order, regardless of how well the manufacturer presents during the evaluation process. Specify that samples must come from normal production — not specially assembled showcase units. If your order volume justifies the cost, have samples independently tested by an accredited laboratory in your market.
